Celebrating the Best of Us: Why the 2026 Travel Marketing Awards Matter More Than Ever
One of the topics we felt compelled to discuss in this month’s newsletter is the vital importance of recognition within our industry. Specifically, we are talking about the Travel Marketing Awards 2026 (TTMAs), which have officially opened for nominations this week.
For many of you, the TTMAs are a staple of the industry calendar; a night to don your best attire and toast the campaigns that captured the public’s imagination. But for us at Llama, and our sister organisation TraMP (Travel Marketing Professionals), they represent something far deeper. They are a barometer of our industry’s resilience, creativity, and enduring value.
A Partnership for the Profession
As many of you know, TraMP has been an integral part of the TTMAs for two years now. 2026 marks our third year of involvement, a milestone we are incredibly proud of. Llama, as a sister organisation to TraMP, is delighted to support, promote, and sponsor these awards. We see it as part of our duty to the ecosystem we all inhabit, to ensure that the hard work done by agencies, in-house teams, and individuals is not just seen, but celebrated.
Andrew and Heath, the co-founders of both Llama and TraMP, have a personal investment in the integrity of these awards. Having both served as TTMA judges in the past, they understand exactly what goes into a winning entry. This year, they have been heavily involved in shaping the criteria and overseeing the delivery of the awards. Their goal, and ours, is to ensure the awards remain rigorous, relevant, and truly reflective of the modern travel marketing landscape.
Excellence in Challenging Times
It is no secret that we are operating in challenging times. Budgets are scrutinised, consumer confidence fluctuates, and the geopolitical landscape is often fraught. Yet, despite these headwinds, travel marketers across the UK are excelling. We are seeing campaigns that are smarter, more empathetic, and more innovative than ever before.
From Llama’s perspective, it is crucial that we take a moment to acknowledge this work. In a world that can feel increasingly maligned and divided, the ethos of travel is more important than it has ever been. Travel brings people closer together. It fosters understanding, breaks down barriers, and opens minds. The work we/you do, promoting destinations, travel brands, and experiences, is the catalyst for that connection. You aren't just selling holidays; you are facilitating the exchange of culture and ideas. That is a "hugely important thing," and it deserves to be heralded.
New Opportunities to Shine
To reflect the evolving nature of our work, the TTMAs have introduced a host of exciting new categories this year. The nomination process is now open, and we strongly encourage every one of you to review the list. Whether you are a boutique agency punching above your weight, or a major destination brand shifting perceptions, there is a category designed to recognise your specific contribution.
These new categories are not just box-ticking exercises; they were developed with input from industry leaders (including our own founders) to recognise where the real innovation is happening right now. They are there to capture the nuance of digital transformation, the rise of responsible tourism, and the creative bravery required to cut through the noise in 2026.
Get Involved
The travel marketing community in the UK is a tight-knit, vibrant group. It is really important that we get behind these awards. Celebrating what is great about our industry isn't just about vanity; it's about setting a benchmark for quality and inspiring the next generation of marketers coming through the ranks.
Please visit the awards website, explore the new criteria, and submit your work. Let’s make this year’s TTMAs a true celebration of the talent, passion, and resilience that defines UK travel marketing.
