TikTok Guide for Travel Agents

Build your brand. Grow consideration. No marketing degree required.

Why TikTok?

• Over 1.5 billion users, including over 25 million active monthly adult users in the UK, with many dreaming of travel.

• TikTok users are planners and bookers — not just teens; 40% of adult UK users are 35+.

• It’s the fastest way to build awareness without big budgets.

• Authentic content wins. Not polished ads. That’s good news for small teams.

YOUR GOAL:

To show up consistently, share what makes your agency unique, and connect with potential travelers in a fun, helpful, human way.

STEP-BY-STEP SETUP

1. Create a TikTok Business Account

• Download the TikTok app

• Sign up → choose “Business” under account type

• Add your agency name, logo, bio (what you do + who for), and a link to your site or contact

Tip: Add a location or niche (“Independent UK Cruise Experts” / “Luxury Family Travel”)

STEP-BY-STEP: GET STARTED WITH CONTENT

2. Find Your Niche & Style

You don’t need to go viral — you need to show up for your people.

Pick 1–2 types of content to start:

Tip: Speak like you’re helping a friend — casual and clear wins.

3. Use the 3-Second Rule

You have 3 seconds to hook people. Start your videos with:

• A question: “Thinking about a safari?”

• A bold promise: “Here’s how I got a couple to Bali for under £2k”

• A niche shoutout: “This one’s for over-60s who love river cruises”

Tip: You don’t need to dance or be funny — being useful is powerful.

4. Keep It Simple (30–60 seconds max)

• Use your phone vertically

• Use natural light or face a window

• Talk clearly or use captions (TikTok can auto-generate)

• Film in one take — don’t worry about perfection

Tip: Use trending audio in the background at low volume (TikTok will suggest them when editing).

5. Post 3–5x per week (start small!)

Don’t overthink. A simple content plan could look like:

Tip: Batch film 3–4 videos in one go. Post them through the week.

STEP-BY-STEP: BUILDING MOMENTUM

6. Use Hashtags & Captions Wisely

Use 3–5 relevant hashtags:

• #TravelAgent

• #CruiseTips

• #LuxuryTravel

• #TravelPlanning

• #UKTravelAgent

Tip: Include location tags to appear in local searches (e.g. #LondonTravelAgent), and search in the TikTok search bar what are the ‘trending hashtags'‘.

7. Engage (it’s a two-way street!)

• Reply to comments

• Like & comment on other travel-related posts

• Follow creators in your niche — build your network

Tip: TikTok rewards interaction. The more active you are, the more visible you become.

8. Look at Your Stats

Under “Business Suite” → check what content performs best

• Look at watch time and shares — these matter more than likes

• Use that info to do more of what works

Tip: Don’t chase perfection — chase consistency.

What Success Looks Like (for you)

• People DMing you questions

• People recognising you as “the travel person”

• People saying, “I saw your TikTok and thought of you”

Optional (but helpful) Tools

CapCut: Free, easy video editor (same company as TikTok)

Canva: For thumbnails or planning your content visually

Notion/Google Docs: To plan ideas and schedule posts

Need Post Ideas? Try These:

• “3 common travel mistakes I help my clients avoid”

• “Why I love booking Italy in September”

• “Behind the scenes of booking a £10k honeymoon”

• “How to plan a stress-free trip with kids”

• “What you don’t see on Instagram in Santorini”

Final Thoughts:

You don’t need a perfect feed. You just need to start showing up. TikTok is a place to be real, helpful, and human — which is where small agencies shine.
