Tik Tok for Travel Agents: Why Now is the Time to Start

At the Advantage Travel Conference this year, we ran a stage session and workshops on TikTok for travel agents.  The room was packed, the energy was high, and the takeaway was clear:  TikTok isn’t just for Gen Z dancers or giant brand budgets.  It’s fast becoming one of the most powerful tools for travel discovery — and independent agencies are perfectly placed to take advantage.

We built the session around one idea:  TikTok can work for you, even if you’ve never filmed a video in your life.  You don’t need to go viral.  You just need to be helpful, human, and consistent.

Why TikTok Matters for Travel

TikTok is now a top platform for travel inspiration.  Users are planning trips straight from their For You feeds.  In fact, “TikTok made me book it” is becoming the new “Instagram made me do it.”

And it’s not just young people. TikTok’s fastest-growing user base is now 35+, and they’re not just watching — they’re buying.

What Works for Independent Agencies

The good news?  You don’t need a marketing department or a ring light.  Some of the best-performing TikToks come from small businesses being real:

  • A quick video showing how you helped a customer book their dream trip

  • A packing tip for Italy in autumn

  • A myth-busting “3 things you didn’t know about all-inclusives in Greece”

  • You, walking and talking for 30 seconds about your favourite hidden gem in Croatia

It’s about trust, not polish.  The best-performing videos are authentic, specific, and emotionally resonant.

Organic First, Paid Later

We always suggest starting with organic posts.  Film five videos.  Post one a week.  See what resonates.

Once you’ve got a feel for it, test small bits of spend — £50 here or there to boost a well-performing video.  Spark Ads are another great option if you’ve got creators or customers talking about you.

Getting Started

Not sure what to film? Start with these:

  • “3 things I always tell my clients before they fly long-haul”

  • “A quick 30-second guide to picking the right Greek island”

  • “Behind the scenes of booking a complex honeymoon”

And if you hate being on camera — don’t be. Use voiceover, text overlays, or even slideshow formats with CapCut.

Final Word

The most important thing? Just start.  Don’t overthink it.  Your first few videos might be wobbly, but that’s part of the charm.  TikTok is a platform that rewards realness over perfection.

So if you’re a small agency wondering whether TikTok is “worth it” — it is.  Your audience is already there.  And they’re searching for someone just like you to help plan their next adventure.
